Michael Bennet

Michael Bennet was born on November 28, 1964 in New Delhi, India while his father worked at the U.S. Embassy there. He grew up in Washington, DC and attended Wesleyan University, earning a degree in history. He then went on to graduate from law school at Yale University. After graduation, Bennet began his law career working in government and the private sector. In 1997, he moved to Colorado where he began to work in investing. He then became Chief of Staff to the Mayor of Denver and then was appointed Superintendent of Denver Public Schools in 2005. In 2009, he was appointed to the U.S. Senate to fill a vacated seat. He has remained in that seat, winning elections in 2010 and 2016. He is married to his wife Susan and has three daughters.

Michael Bennet announced his candidacy for the Democratic nomination on May 2, 2019.
