Elizabeth Warren

Elizabeth Warren was born on June 22, 1949 and was raised in Oklahoma. She completed a bachelor’s degree at the University of Houston in 1970 and then in 1976, graduated with a law degree from Rutgers University-Newark. She then began her academic career at a variety of institutions around the country for nearly two decades before becoming an endowed professor at Harvard Law School in 1995. Over the course of her academic career, Warren became one of the foremost experts on bankruptcy and commercial law in the country. In 1995, Warren began various advisory roles with the Federal Government and was eventually tapped by President Barack Obama to help create the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. In 2012, Warren was elected to the U.S. Senate from Massachusetts and was subsequently re-elected in 2018. Warren is married to her husband, Bruce, and has two adult children.

Elizabeth Warren announced on December 31, 2018 that she was forming an exploratory committee and then formally declared her candidacy for the Democratic nomination on February 8, 2019.
